Past Meetings

The theme "Growing by Pieces" was chosen for the 2010/2011 year. The first meeting of the year is also the Annual meeting. It was held Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Art Center.

November 9, 2010 was a hands-on meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Art Center. Silvia Wilhelm suggested creating collages inspired by the Master's works, and that will be the focus of this meeting. A Board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. before the membership meeting.

Gayle Gerson generously offered to repeat the very successful meeting she held at her house last year. It was a working meeting, on Saturday, January 15, 2011. All artists were encouraged to bring their starter collages they no longer wish to work on so another artist could give it a go.

The March 8th meeting featured speaker, Ashley Benton, from Paonia. Ashley presented an overview of her work over the past several years and talked about materials and her techniques mostly focusing on her use of resin and wax.

The May 14th meeting was combined with the Grand Valley Art Students League on a Saturday at The Art Center from 10:00am to 4:00pm.  This was a celebration working meeting. From 11am to 2pm RMCS members presented demonstrations.  Gayle Gerson did a collage demo as a "Paint Along."   Deborah Robinson gave her Windowpane Motherboard demonstration.  Cathy Pabst did a background demo and Sheri LaBeau had a mat cutter demo.

A "sharing box" has been created for the convenience of members who are struggling to carry so many supplies back and forth to the meetings. The box is designed for all members to contribute to whenever they can, or contribute a few dollars to it now and then.
